Randolph Floyd
Lovett
Feb 21, 1948 — May 4, 2024
Nichols
With grieving hearts, the family of Randy Lovett announces his passing on May 4, 2024.
Randolph Floyd Lovett was born February 21,1948, in Mullins, South Carolina to Dock F. Lovett and Mildred Bullock Lovett. He grew up in the Spring Branch community of Horry County, attending Floyds High School and graduating from Gordon Military Academy. He attended Clemson College and graduated from Campbell College.
In 1970, Randy married Judy Strickland and lived 53 years with often-described "love of his life". Randy was a loving father to his children, Sunshine Lovett Blevins and Randy Lovett II, and his son-in-law, Todd Blevins. His grandchildren, Star Blevins and Grant Blevins, brought him special joy.
Randy was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. After an early career as a teacher, he worked as a farmer, rancher, and tobacco warehouse owner and operator. He was honored as the South Carolina Farmer of the Year in 1996 and later as North Carolina Farm Family of the Year, along with several National Corn Grower awards from the state of South Carolina.
Randy had a large personality and brought laughter to the people around him. He was generous and giving and a loyal "true blue" friend.
He leaves behind his mother, Mildred, wife, Judy, his children, Sunshine and Randy, son-in-law Todd, and precious grandchildren Star and Grant. He also leaves his sister Sonnie Lovett Shelley, brother-in-law Johnny Shelley, niece Kristi Shelley Forbus (Brian), nephew Cam Shelley (Jill), and special friend, Irvin Anderson (Vicki).
Randy's legacy of love and laughter will be cherished and continue to inspire those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Spring Branch Baptist Church in Nichols with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made in Randy's memory to the sign fund at Spring Branch Baptist Church, 6710 Church Loop, Nichols, South Carolina 29581.
