Randy
Blanton
Jan 22, 1949 — Dec 10, 2024
Pamplico
Randy Blanton, 75, of Pamplico and formerly of Green Sea, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, following injuries he received in an automobile accident. He was born in Mullins, South Carolina, the son of the late Waldo Blanton and the late Marjorie Watts Blanton.
Randy's life was marked by his deep connection to the community and his family with farming playing a central role throughout his journey. He had a lifelong commitment to the land, both on his farm in Green Sea and the garden he always had until his health no longer allowed him to work in it. A big supporter of Green Sea Floyds athletics, he always looked forward to the Benji Blanton Memorial Scholarship Tournament. The annual tournament was started in memory of Randy's son, Benji, who passed away in 2002, also from injuries in an automobile accident. Randy was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail, who was instrumental in the success of the tournament.
Randy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially loved to dove and deer hunt and maintained his membership at Causey's Hunting Club, even after moving to Pamplico to be closer to his daughter and her family. He loved the outdoors, but first and foremost, he loved his family and friends. Randy also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his daughter, Jill Ard and her husband, Banning of Pamplico; his precious grandchildren, Eli and Emma Ard; a brother, Tony Blanton and his wife, Anita of Ridgeland; a niece and a nephew and many close friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Blanton Cemetery in Nichols. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
If you would like to remember Randy, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Benji Blanton Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 256, Green Sea, South Carolina 29545.
