Henrietta Huggins Farish, 84, of Murrells Inlet and formerly of Florence, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 8, 2026, at Grand Strand Medical Center. She was born in Mullins, South Carolina on July 16, 1941, the daughter of the late Stacey Bernard “S.B.” Huggins and the late Doris Hayes Huggins.

Reta, as most people knew her, graduated from Floyds High School with the Class of 1959. She continued her education at Winthrop College, graduating in 1963 with a degree in Education. She began a rewarding career as a middle school teacher in Florence, touching many lives along the way. She, along with her late husband, were enthusiastic Georgia Bulldog fans. If it was a Saturday in the fall, they could be found in the stands cheering them on. They cherished the tradition of Saturday football games and made many memories traveling to both home and away games. Reta lived a life of strength and resilience and was independent right up until the time of her passing.

In addition to her parents, Reta was predeceased by her husband, James Edward “Jim” Farish, and a brother, Harry Huggins.

She is survived by a son, James E. Farish, Jr.; nephews, Chad Huggins (Theresa), Kip Huggins (Traci), and Hayes Huggins (Amanda); a niece, Wendy Huggins (Kim); two grandchildren, James E. Farish III (Cami) and Matthew J. Farish (Jessica); a special great nephew Chase Huggins; stepdaughter, Sandra Farish; brother, Stacy Huggins, and special friends, Judy, Diane, Janet & Betty.

The family and close friends will have a graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence.
