Obituary

Rita Miller Martin, 64, of Mullins and beloved wife of Ricky, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Medical University of South Carolina with her family by her side.  She was born in Mullins, South Carolina on November 4, 1955, a daughter of the late Lide J. Miller and Hazel Scott Miller.  Rita was a driving force beside her husband, as they worked together to make Dry Dock a successful family business in Marion County.   Her hard work and outgoing personality are what most people will remember about Rita.  She could be found in her apron making sure that everything was as it should be.  She loved animals and had a tendency to take in many strays.  There is no doubt the animals were lined up to greet her as she entered her Heavenly home.

Rita is survived by her husband of 31 years, Ricky D. Martin; her mother, Hazel Scott Miller of Lake View; three brothers, Steve Miller (Bunny) of Nichols, Dale Miller (Sandra) of Lake View, and Mike Miller (Beth) of Lake View; one sister, Becky Hardee (Ken) of Lake View; her mother-in-law, Crickett Martin of Mullins; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Mitzi Martin, and her nieces and nephews, Jason Miller (Heather) of Myrtle Beach, Candace Miller of Lake View, Michael Miller (Jennifer) of Lake City, Josh Miller (Jamie) of Spartanburg, Haley Miller of Lake View, Kimberly Hardee of Lake View, Charlotte Stiglbauer (Brandon) of Chapin, Michael Martin and Lauren Martin of Mullins, numerous great-nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Mullins First Baptist Church with Reverend Robbie Baxley and Reverend Haywood Proctor officiating.  The family will receive friends in the sanctuary following the service.  You can also visit with the family between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the home of Cricket Martin, 1247 South Main Street. Following the visitation, the family will lay Rita to rest at Devotion Gardens.

If you would like to remember Rita, the family suggests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Marion County Animal Shelter, 123 Cat and Dog Road Marion, South Carolina 29571.
