Obituary

Roland Ludwig Luff, 67, of Mullins and husband of Phyllis Luff, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 28, 2022. He was born in Lauf, Germany on January 3, 1955, the son of the late Walter Erich Luff and the late Maria Ludmila Strobl Luff.

Roland and Phyllis were more than just husband and wife. They were best friends for the last thirty-eight years. They enjoyed life on the river and spent many hours together making their home a place of perfect peace. He loved the outdoors and always looked forward to dove season and hunting. Roland enjoyed riding around on his Rhino and looking at the farm. He loved to fish and was blessed to be able to walk out his back door, and fish all he wanted in the Little Pee Dee River. A huge fan of Star Trek, Roland enjoyed watching the old reruns and movies. He had recently retired after many years as a programmer in the lumber industry. While working in the lumber industry, he obtained his pilot's license which allowed him to be able to fly over the timber forests. He will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him best.

In addition to his parents, Roland was predeceased by his beloved in-laws, Austin and Lois Jackson and sisters-in-law, Gloria Bell, Pam Owens, and Angela Shelley.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jackson Luff; a son, Justin Altman and his wife, Ashleigh of Lugoff and their children, Jaxon and Chandler; his sister, Yvonne Morris and her husband, Robert of McCormick, SC; a nephew who was like a son, Brian Wallace and his wife, Angela of Mullins; special niece and nephew, Derek Bell and his wife, Brie of Columbia, and Brittany Foley and her husband, Codey of Mullins, and a special great-niece, Bree Wallace.

A service to celebrate Roland's life will be held at a later date.
