Mullins- Rosemary Altman Graves received her angel wings and passed through Heaven's gate on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Her journey on earth was blessed and her flight peaceful. Born in Mullins, S.C. in 1927, where she lived and raised her family, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Dr. Dayton Stokes Altman and Rosa Belle Witherspoon Altman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Dayton Stokes Altman and Eugene Ray Altman and two sisters, Katherine Altman Ragan and Mabel Altman Hardwick Covington. She has one surviving brother, Berkeley Boyd Altman (Faye) of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by two sons, George Memminger Graves, Jr. of Mullins and Berkeley Stokes Graves (Susan) of Myrtle Beach; three grandchildren, Ragan Ansley Graves and Elizabeth Altman Graves of Charleston, and Berkeley Ross Graves of Charlotte. Rosie to most (and Rosemama to family) was such a kind and gentle spirit. She never met a stranger, passed up a dessert or the chance to talk. Rosie loved all people, the big band music, dancing, flowers, traveling and pretending to enjoy golf for the sake of her boys. She believed in always putting God first, being kind to all, loving her neighbor and doing good deeds every day. She was our little "southern belle" who is now reunited with "Big George" and all her loved ones who have traveled ahead. Rosemary Altman Graves was a beloved member of the Mullins community which she loved so much. She will forever be in our hearts. A "rosie" rose has bloomed in Heaven. A memorial service to celebrate Rosemary's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2014 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home of Mullins. The family will receive friends following the service. There will be a private internment afterwards. In remembrance of Rosemary, donations can be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, 402 North Main Street, Mullins, S.C. 29574. A guestbook is available online at www.mearesfh.com.
