Jessie Ruth Strickland, 94, of Fair Bluff, North Carolina went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 24, 2021 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fair Bluff on March 13, 1926, the daughter of the late Edgar M. Enzor and the late Catherine Barnes Enzor.

Mrs. Strickland enjoyed making crafts, especially Christmas ornaments and working in her garden. She loved children and enjoyed working with the youth in her church, Spring Branch Baptist Church, to which she was fiercely dedicated. She taught Sunday School there for over forty years and put her faith first in everything she did. She will be missed by all who knew her, but her wonderful example will lead her family always.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Strickland was predeceased by her husband, Pittman Strickland, a son, Phillip Strickland, a brother, Henry J. Enzor, and two sisters, Letha Smith and Ruby Lee Benton.

She is survived by a son, Howell Strickland and his wife, Maria of Fair Bluff, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Powell Cemetery in Fair Bluff. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. We respectfully request that you wear a mask and practice social distancing while in the cemetery. A kind word in lieu of a hug or a handshake will be greatly appreciated.
