Susan Hooks "Sue" Thompkins, 66, of Mullins passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee. She was born in Mullins on January 7, 1956, the daughter of the late James Vander "J.V." Hooks and the late Alice Pearl Jernigan Hooks.

Susan loved to cook and especially enjoyed cooking large Sunday dinners and having all her family around her. Family was important to her, and she along with her husband, Mike, worked hard to provide love and support to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue spent the past thirty-two years employed with AVM, where she made many lasting friendships. For many years, she also worked alongside her husband at the Seafood Center they owned and operated in Mullins. Her favorite time of year was the Christmas season and decorating her home for the holidays. As a woman of great faith, she enjoyed attending Revelations Church and Grace Community Church.

In addition to her parents, Sue was predeceased by a brother, Andy Hooks and a sister, Sandy Hooks.

She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-two years, Mike Thompkins; a son, B.J. Skipper, both of Mullins, three daughters, Stephanie Denise "Neesie" Hamilton (Austin) of Dillon, Dana Marie Thompkins of Chadbourn, North Carolina, Amanda Leigh Thompkins of Mullins; a brother, Randy Hooks (Pattie) of Advance, North Carolina; a sister, Ila Thompson of Mullins; eight grandchildren, Hunter, Emily, Jenna, Alexis, Spencer, Whitney, Kamryn, and Gracie, and four great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2023 in the chapel of Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
