Obituary

Thomas McDonald Anderson, 67, husband of Cindy Brown Anderson, of Mullins entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Mullins, South Carolina on November 26, 1955, the son of the late Bert Neal Anderson and the late Betty McDonald Anderson.

Tommy was a graduate of Porter-Gaud School in Charleston and the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Following his graduation, he began a career in finance at Premium Budget where he worked alongside and learned from Sam Webster. Tommy later acquired the business and spent many years there before he transitioned to the family financial institution, Anderson Brothers Bank. A third-generation member of the Anderson banking family, he continued to serve the community's financial needs just as his father and grandfather had done. Tommy also obtained his real estate license and was involved in various real estate transactions in the area.

Tommy was especially proud of  achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 764. He was a lifetime member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and had served on various committees through the years. An avid sports fan, he especially loved his Gamecocks and NASCAR.

Tommy left an impression on all who knew and loved him, and people were drawn to him because of his warm and humble personality. He had a way of making people smile and his laugh was infectious. Anyone that truly knew him, knew he had a big heart and most have their own "Tommy" story to tell. He will be greatly missed, but there is comfort in knowing that he is at peace surrounded by God's light.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Cindy Brown Anderson; his children, Whitney Dunlap and her husband, Doc, Jean Marie Buffamoyer and her husband, John Eric, Michaux Johnson, and Rivers Anderson and his wife, Chasity; brothers, Neal Anderson and his wife, Joyce and David Anderson and his wife, Pam; eight grandchildren, Jamison, Kaleigh, Risden, Rutledge, Kelly Anne, Rock, Haven, and Abe; stepdaughter, Cayce Blackmon (Keith), brother-in-law, Bob Brown and his wife, Kathy, a nephew and several nieces, and his fur baby, Lizzy Grace. He was predeceased by his fur baby, Jake.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2023 in the sanctuary of Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary following the service. Tommy will be laid to rest by the family in a private committal service at Cedardale Cemetery. The service will be live streamed on the Macedonia United Methodist Church Facebook page.
