Herbert Victor "Vic" Carmichael, 83, of Mullins passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital, with his wife, Pat, by his side. He was born in Mullins on February 22, 1938, the son of the late Herbert Victor Carmichael, Sr., and Eula Knight Carmichael.

Vic spent many years working as a plant manager at SOPAKCO, but he was a rancher at heart. He was passionate about raising cows and horses and spent many hours in the pastures feeding and interacting with them. Vic, along with his wife, Pat raised, raced, and showed their horses, participating in many shows. They formed many lifelong relationships with the people that shared their love of horses. Vic was a man of his word, and he expected you to do the same. He attended Fork Presbyterian Church and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, Vic was predeceased by a sister, Imogene Abernathy and his dog and horse, Peanut and Sparky.

He is survived by his beloved wife and companion of 55 years, Pat Calhoun Carmichael of Mullins; two sons, Randy Carmichael (Shannon) of Mullins and Jayson "Jay" Calhoun (Belinda) of Fork; a brother, Malcolm Carmichael (Shelby) of Marion; a sister, Peggy Woodward (Dr. Ben) of Columbus, North Carolina; a grandchild, Casey Lee Carmichael, and his favorite companions, My Streakin' Dancer, Lucy, and Zoie.
