Obituary

Virginia Brown Capps, 90, loving wife to Linwood Capps for the past 74 years, devoted her life to serving Christ, and today she is resting in his arms. She passed away peacefully Monday, March 3, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Mullins, South Carolina on April 23, 1934, the daughter of the late Arbie Brown and the late Alma Lewis Brown.

Virginia was known for her warmth and kindness. She loved those around her with a soft and unwavering spirit, reflecting the hands and feet of Jesus as she went about doing good for others. She enjoyed visiting shut-ins and patients in the nursing home, blessing them with her presence. The same person in each facet of her life; her marriage, parenting, grandkids, and friendships, she did not let her illness change her loving ways. She was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church and the Pearls of Wisdom Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by a brother, Joe Brown and sisters, Louise Saunders and Marilyn Harrelson.

She is survived by her husband, Linwood Capps; her children who were her pride and joy, Randy Capps and his wife, Mary Ann, Rodney Capps and his wife, Elise, Sandi Lee, and Marlene Capps; a brother, Ray Brown (Judy); sisters, Mildred Simmons and Earline Gaddy; her grandchildren, Bridgett Kennedy (Raymond), Amber Harrelson (Jami), Ryan Capps (Brooke), Karsyn Capps, and Kennedy Capps; two great-grandchildren, Tucker Harrelson and Elena Hathaway.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Robbie Baxley officiating. The committal service will be at Red Hill Memorial Gardens.

If you would like to remember Virginia, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to Mullins First Baptist Church Christian Life Center, P.O. 443, Mullins, South Carolina 29574 or to McLeod Hospice House, 1203 East Cheves Street, Florence, South Carolina 29506.
