Virginia Elliott Hammond, 88, of Nichols passed away peacefully Sunday, September 24, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Marion County, the daughter of the late Eddie Elliott and Flennie Small Elliott. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. Always asking, "Have you eaten?" when you walked in the door. Mrs. Hammond was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church.

She was predeceased in addition to her parents, by her husband, Joseph Howard Hammond, a brother, Dupree Elliott, two sisters, Irene Johnson and Elvis Phipps; and a son-in-law, Ronald Fogle.

Surviving Mrs. Hammond are her sons, Garrie Hammond of Boone, North Carolina and Tim (Deborah) Hammond of Florence; a daughter, Joyce Hammond Fogle of Nichols; eight grandchildren, Bobby Bullard, Bradley (Sierra) Bullard, Scott Hammond, Bob (Abby) Hammond, D'Wayne Hammond, Joey (Pansy) Hammond, Rachel Hammond, Rebecca (Billy) Reid, and twelve great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols. The family will receive friends following the graveside service, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Spring Branch Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
