Virginia Dare Mann, 94, of Florence, South Carolina and formerly of Hinton, West Virginia died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Commander Nursing Center in Florence following a long illness. Born September 27, 1920 in Ohley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Leff and Bertha Short Petry. Mrs.Mann was a homemaker and enjoyed working with ceramics for much of her life. She attended First Baptist Church in Hinton and had been a resident of Florence for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Leonard "Hick" Mann, by a brother, Charles Petry, and three sisters, Lillian Hill, Lila McGhee and Mat Saber. Survivors include two brothers, Leonard Petry and his wife, Joann and Robert Petry and his wife, Barbara, both of Chelyan, WV; three sisters, Essie Harlow of Chelyan, WV, Nina Williams of Hendersonville, NC and Dottie Paul of Nichols, SC. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
