Virlyn Floyd Shelley, 97, of Pleasant View, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at McLeod Loris Hospital. She was born in Williamsburg County on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1923, a daughter of the late Harvey Leland Floyd and Clarice Marlowe Floyd. A Godly lady, Ms. Virlyn was a devoted lifelong member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Her greatest love was for her family and spending fun times with her children, grandsons and her great-granddaughters. Ms. Virlyn was a talented seamstress, gardener and a lifelong farmer.  She was the true farmer's wife, pitching in to do whatever was needed on the farm in addition to taking care of the home and her family.  Even after her failing health, she continued to ask about the crops and the rain and how the fields looked.

Ms. Virlyn was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by her beloved husband of 67 happy years, George Milton Shelley, her son, Floyd Milton Shelley, and two brothers, Eldren and Carlton Floyd.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Lynn Shelley-Hammond; a grandson, Milton Shane Hammond and her great-granddaughters, Shayna Allyson and Layla Fayth Hammond; her grandson Daniel Floyd Shelley, numerous loving nieces, nephews, and family members, as well as, her Pleasant View Baptist Church family and the members of the Pleasant View community.

A family committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery and a celebration of her life service for family and friends will be held outside in front of Pleasant View Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020.  We respectfully request that social distancing be practiced at the service.

The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses of Tabor Commons Assisted Living Facility, McLeod Loris Hospital and McLeod Hospice for their loving care and devotion to Ms. Virlyn.
