Wallace
Sellers
Oct 7, 1940 — Jun 27, 2024
Mullins
Wallace Duncan Sellers, III, 83, of Mullins passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 27, 2024. He was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on October 7, 1940, the son of the late Wallace Duncan Sellers, Jr., and the late Jane Rogers Sellers.
A humble and kind man, Wallace was a beloved member of the Fork Retch community. Living on the river was the best thing that ever happened to him besides being married to his late wife, Claire, the love of his life for almost sixty years. His love of golf, fishing, and being a member of the Mullins Cotillion Club were an important part of his life. Together, he and Claire enjoyed entertaining at their home, especially during the fall months when they would gather family and friends and roast oysters. They also spent over twenty years working side by side at Latta IGA. They built a beautiful life together-one filled with tremendous love, friendships, community ties, and laughter. As Wallace's health began to fail, he was blessed to have the best "nurse" ever close by, his eight-year-old granddaughter, Charleigh, who he adored. We are all grateful for the memories and cherished moments spent with Wallace.
In addition to his parents, Wallace was predeceased by his wife, Claire, a daughter, Susan Sellers Medlin, and a sister, Betty Sellers Calcutt.
He is survived by a son, Duncan Sellers of Mullins; a sister, Pat Causey and her husband, Carlis of Dillon; nine grandchildren, Kristin Brown (Dylan), Kayla Morrill (Kody), Joseph Sellers, Samuel Sellers (Marlayna), Matthew Sellers, Hannah Medlin, Chase Lane, Kai-Lei Chen, and Charleigh Sellers; eight great-grandchildren; a very special friend and caregiver, Tyrone Ford; his beloved canine companion, Tipper, his many friends, and Fork Retch family.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins with Reverend Jason Brewer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
In remembrance of Wallace, contributions may be made to the Marion County Animal Shelter, 123 Dog and Cat Court, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
