Obituary

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5

William Harrison "Harry" Fisher passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 5, 2024, surrounded by those he loved and that loved him. He was born in Mullins, South Carolina on June 6, 1945, the son of the late Ralph Fisher and the late Oline Cole Fisher.

Harry loved his God, his family and friends, and his country. He was humble, compassionate, and kind to all, a true southern gentleman who impacted the lives of everyone that was fortunate enough to have crossed his path in life. A 1963 graduate of Mullins High School, Harry continued his education at Columbia Commercial College, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, Harry was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967, having attained the rank of sergeant. Harry returned to Mullins, and founded W.H. Fisher and Associates, P.A. serving as an insurance adjuster for many years. He was a Past President of the National Truck and Heavy Equipment Claims Council. A member of Damascus Lodge #161, Harry served as Past Master of the organization, supporting the community, and enjoying the fellowship of his Masonic brothers. A faithful member of Mullins First Baptist Church, Harry was a member of the Men's Fellowship Sunday School Class. He also enjoyed attending the Men of Mullins Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday mornings.

In 1972, Harry married the love of his life, Polly, and their love grew as they remained inseparable for the past fifty-two years. He was a dedicated father to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As Harry's health began to fail, he wanted the strength of his faith to be evident through the way he approached his illness. He continued to protect those closest to him making sure that every detail was covered. He lived a life of purpose and leaves a wonderful legacy behind.

In addition to his parents, Harry was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia P. Soles, brother, John Fisher, sister, Janet Brogdon, sister-in-law, Sue Fisher, nephew, Brian Fisher, and brother-in-law, Benny Bullock.

He is survived by his loving wife, Polly Fisher; daughter and son-in-law, Darenda and Wendell Rabon, all of Nichols; grandchildren, Joshua Rabon (Savannah), Jacob Rabon (Lauryn), Cecily Carter (Graham), Haley Rabon, Christopher Henderson, Drake Henderson, and Tanya Soles; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Fisher of Mullins; sister, Vernon Bullock of Lake Waccamaw; his sister-in-law, Helen Fisher of Florence, and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Mullins First Baptist Church with visitation to follow in the church Fellowship Hall and at other times at the home of Darenda and Wendell Rabon. The family will lay Harry to rest in a private committal service with military honors at McMillan Cemetery.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks and gratitude for the compassionate care given to Harry by Dr. Jimmy Carroll, Conway Medical Center, MUSC Charleston, Marcella Jones, Debbie DeLisa, and Gail Pulley.

If you would like to remember Harry, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Mullins First Baptist Church Christian Life Center and/or the Mullins First Baptist Church Men's Fellowship Class, P.O. Box 443, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
