Mullins- Dr. William C. Bill Foil, 82, died peacefully Wednesday, June 15, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born in Salisbury, North Carolina, a son of the late Dewey Lindsay and Margaret Parham Foil. Dr. Foil received his Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina after which he moved to Mullins and served the area for over eighteen years as Superintendent for Mullins School District #2. His love of his community and its citizens prompted him to found the Manna House of Mullins and serve as its Director. He also served as a member of the Mullins Rotary Club for over thirty-two years, and subsequently was granted status as a lifetime honorary member. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where he was a member of the United Methodist Men. He was also a former chairman of the Mullins Golden Leaf Festival. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dr. Mary Beth Foil, M.D. Dr. Foil is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Patricia Ann Petree Pat Foil of Mullins; two sons, Mark Alan Foil, Sr. and his wife Susan of Rock Hill, S.C. and Andrew Lindsay Foil and his wife Jan of Mullins, six grandchildren, Mark Alan (Janice) Foil , Lorie Anne (Rickey) Foil, Brittany Alanda Foil (Blake) Shelley, Lindsay Ann Foil, Sally Tucker Foil, and Tarah Bailey; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Dwayne Mock, Patrick Alan Mock, Kimney Lila Foil, and Ashton Taylor Hooks, and a dear friend, Jean Allman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins. Burial will follow at Cedardale Cemetery.
