Winifred Louise
Barnhill
May 4, 1929 — May 6, 2018
Mullins
Winifred Louise Barnhill, 89, of Mullins passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence following a period of declining health.
She was born in Horry County on May 4, 1929, a daughter of the late William Carlie Buffkin and Neva Buffkin. Mrs. Barnhill spent twenty-nine years working as a seamstress at Stone Manufacturing in Fair Bluff. A woman of great faith and the heart of the Barnhill family, she led by example the life of a dedicated Christian woman and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She faithfully cared for her family and friends through the cards she sent and her delicious cooking. She was just one of those people that you never left her home hungry or empty-handed. Mrs. Barnhill had a great love for flowers and hummingbirds. She was loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Barnhill was predeceased, in addition to her parents, by her beloved husband, J.C. Barnhill; two sons, Jack Barnhill and Joe Barnhill; a brother, Winston Buffkin; her sister, Beatrice Buffkin Watts, and a grandson, Jarrett Lee Barnhill.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Gertie Barnhill of Marion; five grandchildren, Jeffery (Loni) Barnhill, Jennifer Barnhill, Jay (Shannon) Barnhill, Jeremy Barnhill, and Zach Butler; six great-grandchildren, Jackie Barnhill, Jasmine and Jada Thompson, Judson Barnhill, and Jarrett and Jackson Butler; a great-grandchild, Jaycee Barnhill; two daughters-in-law, Tessie and Anita Barnhill and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May, 8, 2018 at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service and at other times at the home of Jerry Barnhill. Mrs. Barnhill is in the care of Meares Funeral Home.
If you would like to remember Mrs. Barnhill, the family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to Little Bethel Baptist Church, 3811 Bluff Road, Mullins, South Carolina 29574.
